SUPERNATURAL ANOINTING TO YOUR MINISTRY
Supernatural anointing to your ministry
The Holy Spirit wants to bring an supernatural anointing to the ministry of everyone. The Lord was calling me to his work at full day ministry already since I was a young boy. He spoke to me especially of preaching the gospel and healing the sick. From the word of God I knew God wants to save and heal people. However to do all this I needed supernatural anointing.
For my shame I must confess I was not very eager to start to work full day at the ministry of gospel. My father was a born again pastor. I was a believer and serving the Lord in the church of my father. I was eagerly in different activities of the church but escaping my call. I thought it is not that important if I just take care that I will once get to heaven. It is surprising, how many people think this way. When escaping the call of God I cried myself into sleep night after night.
I had loving parents and good childhood home. Yet I prayed again and again the same prayer: "Lord take me away, this world cannot offer me anything, that would interest me." The world cannot indeed offer us who are believers anything, but God can and wants to!
Angel visit
One evening two angels appeared to my room. One of them said to me: "Matti, we have come here to take you to your home to heaven!" Oh, this was exactly what I had been asking! I felt myself so happy that one cannot describe it! Now I would go to heaven, amen! Hallelujah! Wonderful! I want to say like one person in the Bible, that I didn't know whether I was in my body or not, Lord knows. My own opinion is, that I was not in my body, as everything happened while I was awake.
I know that human being consists of spirit, soul and body. I left my body with these angels guardians. I saw how my body was left in my room. I noticed that I had immediately a spiritual body. I had hands, legs, eyes etc.! I saw how I left my home, our town and at last our amazing home planet behind me. I cant't say surely, what that place where we arrived really was, but it was a wonderful place. Was it heaven, or a place before it? We stepped in from a beautiful cage. The angles wished me welcome and they were rejoicing with me as I had arrived as a winner. Oh, what happiness and joy I felt! One of these angels, who had come to take me, took my hand and we went together to a very large room.
Now, I don't tell you this to point me out, but to teach you something. The room was full of shelfs. And the shelfs were full of golden crowns. I stood in the middle of the room. "Wait here," the angel said. I saw how the angel took one of the crowns from the upper self and came to me saying: "Matti, this was reserved for you." I liked very much, what I saw. I was so overwhelming happy and excited. I still remember everything like it had happened yesterday. I was thinking how good God is. I was thinking how I had resisted the will and the calling of God in my life on the earth, and there were offered this kind of reward for me. Happily I was going to take that crown. But the angel talked to me: "This crown was made for you and reserved for you, but, as you didn't want to do the will of the Lord, you cant't get it!" - What a disappointment! Without a word I looked, how the angel put the crown back. Then he took from the lower self another crown, and gave it to me saying: "This is the one you will get."
Both of the crowns were beautiful, but the difference between them was like a day and a night. First time in my life I understood what it means to do the will of the Lord. Maybe this is what is told that lasts will become firsts and firsts as the lasts. We are saved by the grace of the God, and yet, it is only a part of our eternal future. God had reserved a reward to each of us according to our faithfulness and deeds. Now I understood, that I had made the mistake of my life by resisting the will of God. I demanded to get back to the earth to do the will of God. I had to fight with the angel and at last he didn't know what to do with me. We went back to the cage together. One of the angels went to ask a permission from the God, so that I could get back to the earth. I didn't see Jesus, neither God. But the permission was given, and I could return to the earth. Angles took me back and I was aloud to return to my body. You can just imagine how this changed my life! Now I was willing to do the will of the Lord, no matter how much it would cost. And I can tell you, it has cost me much - everything. I believe none of us, who understands what is waiting for us up there, wants to loose anything there. Before I had been thinking, wrongly, that I can't loose anything in heaven. But Bible teaches us: "..Hold fast what you have, in order that no one take your crown," (Rev. 3:11). In another place it is written: "Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life" (Rev. 2:10). After this visit to heaven I had "the night of the dreams" .
Like me you may feel unwillingness and incapability to do the work God has spoken to you. Before I was anointed, I simply didn't understand, what all things are included in the anointing. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is for you too. In the anointing you can overcome all your own limits and capabilities. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is the most valuable thing you can ever get in your life.
People can speak evil things of you. They can gossip all kind of lies of you. They can cast you out of the synagogue or congregation. But they can never take away the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, which you have received from the Lord. And even if you were mistaken in some matter, God will never regret his calling and his gifts! I myself has made many mistakes in my life, even gone wrong. Bible tells us that "we all stumble in many ways" - all! (James 3:2). Even those people, who have condemned you, have stumbled in many ways. It is just much easier to see a speck in your brothers eye, than to notice a log that is in your own eye (Mathew 7:3).
Many of us wants to hide his own mistakes by pointing out others' mistakes. However, God is warning us to not looking down other people's anointing. Never fail in such. Bible is giving us a warning example of Moses' brother Aron and their sister Miriam (Numbers chapter 12), how they were looking down his anointing. Even when we unwillingly do mistakes God doesn't take away his anointing. We must, of course have the will of repentance, when we have mistaken. God is graceful to all those who want to repent. In all these matters the Holy Spirit is our defender. The Spirit will guide us to all truth. I wouldn't like to live a single day without the anointing of the Holy Ghost! I would rather die than loose my anointing.
God has got a wonderful anointing to every disciple of Jesus. Not just for us, who are working full time for him, but even to everyone, for you too! If Jesus needed the anointing to his ministry, how much more we do! The anointing of the Holy Spirit will change us to useful persons. Saul was the first king of Israel. He thought he was just a usual person. Prophet Samuel, who had been ordered to anoint Saul to the first king of Israel, explained Saul what would happen as a result of the anointing: ""Then the Spirit of God will come upon you mightily, and you shall prophesy with them and be changed into another man," (1. Sam 10:6) When the Spirit of the Lord came to the life of Saul, he changed into useful man.
The anointing in the life of David
David was in the beginning just a young boy, working as a shepherd. When Saul failed in obedience and lost his anointing, God commanded prophet Samuel to anoint one of the sons of Jesse to be a king instead of Saul. When getting this order the prophet didn't know, whom of the sons of Jesse the Lord had chosen. When Samuel arrived to Betlehem, Jesse brought seven of his sons, beginning from the oldest, in front of Samuel. Humanly thinking Eliab, the eldest son of Jesse, had the best chances to be chosen to be a king. Even the prophet thought: "Surely the Lord's anointed is before Him". But no, his soldier education, good outlook, and all the other good abilities couldn't be enough for the Lord. So the Lord had to speak to Samuel, that he wouldn't do a mistake: "Do not look at his appearence or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart," (1 Sam. 16:7).
After this Jesse brought the next six sons in front of Samuel. But Lord had not chosen anyone of them. Nobody of them believed or even thought that David, the youngest, could be chosen for the Lord, and that's why he had been left to take care of the lambs. David was a man according to the mind of the Lord. Now he was brought in and the Lord said to Samuel: "Arise, anoint him, for this is he," (1. Sam. 16:12).
God has always called in a way or another in front those, who he wants to anoint in a particular ministry. We don't ever need to be there trying to recommend ourselves. The anointing changed David's life totally. "Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers, and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from the day forward," (1. Sam. 16:13).
This anointing was not just a temporary, good feeling. The anointing was something meant to be constantly in one's life. The Holy Spirit stayed in David. But the Holy Spirit didn't make him able at that moment to serve as a king! God had chosen David, and now he had the anointing. Still, it took over 10 years before David was ready to serve first time in his ministry. During those 10 years many things were changed in his life.
After the anointinghe was called to serve Saul in the palace of the king. Yet David returned often to take care of the sheep of his father in his home town, Betlehem. Once his father send him to bring some food to his brothers, who were in Israeli soldier camp in the valley of Elah. This visit changed his life in a remarkable way. David got a victory from the philistenean Goliath. Since that day David had to stay in the palace of the king Saul. Saul appointed David as a commander of his soldiers, and David was prospering in all his ways. David became a very famous person among the people. And Saul became jealous. At last this anointed man had to escape from Saul! This hiding and escaping took years. Long time it looked like things were running opposite direction compared to the anointing he had received.
If you study carefully the psalms of David, you may notice in what kind of grief and pain of the heart David lived in. Yet he trusted in the Lord in all his troubles. And he was looking forward that God would take the step in his life. David had had a several chances to help himself into the position of the God's anointed. Yet he never used these chances, but waited for the time of the Lord! Waiting must have been a really tough school for him. When Saul tragically died, David was soon anointed to a king of Judah. Some years later he was anointed to the king of Israel, to the ministry God had chosen him from guarding the sheep. The story of David shows us, how he was anointed three times. To remind you, here they are:
1. Prophet Samuel anointed him in the midst of his brothers, and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from the day forward, (1. Sam. 16:13).
2. After Saul had died he was anointed to be the king of Judah (2. Sam. 2:4)
3. David was anointed to the king of Israel (2. Sam. 5:3)
The anointing will increase
God wants increase his anointing with the same measure in our lives as we prove to be faithful and steady servants. David had to pay a high price for his anointing. If you are ready to pay a high price for your anointing, God will in one day increase your anointing. But, He may not tell it in before. Everything start from the attitude of your heart. Without the anointing David could have never got his victory from Goliath. Psalms tell us what was the value of prayer and praise in his life. From psalms we may notice the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit in his life.
Only the Holy Spirit will bring the power of anointing into your life. God is searching for men and women, whom he could anoint. We cannot "buy" anything from God. You can get the basic anointing into your life in the same way David did. But to get the fully anointing, you will have to pay a tough price. It will cost you your whole life, but it will give you everything!
How to get the anointing of the Holy Spirit to your ministry
The anointing of the Holy Spirit is equal to the supernatural power of God in your life. Bible teaches us that the kingdom of God doesn't consist on the words but in the power of God. Without the power of God the spiritual activities are nothing but holding up dead coulisses. One cannot get the power of God through theological studies. Only the Holy Spirit can bring the supernatural power of God to the life of a human being. This happened on the Pentecostal day, when 120 disciples where gathered together in the upper hall. The Holy Spirit was poured out on them and the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and fire. This was what Jesus had encouraged them to wait for saying: "But you shall receive the power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you," (Acts 1:8). However, the power of the Holy Spirit is more than speaking in tongues. I think that the disciples were in prayer when the Holy Spirit arrived.
You must have a contact with the Lord before He can anoint you. God never anoints unbelievers. They are anti-anointed. The power of anointing comes into you in the presence of the Holy Ghost. Without the presence of the Holy Ghost you cannot get the anointing, as it is the Holy Spirit that anoints you. Not angels. Not either any famous preacher. So, how to get into the presence of the Holy Ghost? There is only one way, my friend. It is the atmosphere of prayer and praise.
Prayer and praise is making contact with God. I have noticed that the Holy Spirit is fond of the atmosphere of praise. You can't necessarily see the presence of the Holy Spirit, but you may feel it. The presence of the Holy Spirit leaves marks on us. It makes a human being to change. The presence of the Spirit is the presence of the glory of God. The glory of God is not like the light of sun or a lamp. The glory of God is not only visible glory but also invisible glory that appears in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Just like sun shine and warmth makes a tomato or some other fruit to mature, so makes the glory of God us bear fruit of the Spirit. This is important, as one cannot get the anointing to a ministry without the mature fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control," (Gal. 5:22).
The presence of the Spirit when we are in prayer and praise, will mature these thing on us. In this presence happens also something else. The glory of God will reveal our sins like lack of love, lack of forgiveness etc. The Spirit makes us to want the repentance. When we at the presence of the Spirit understand what is our situation, also our way of reacting to others will change. This is how the fruit of the Spirit will mature. Many people wait, that others around them would change, instead of facing the fact that they themselves need to change first. When you get changed at the presence of the Spirit, also your circumstances will change. So does other people's reacting to you.
Receiving the power of anointing to your life is very much depended on you. Here some of the terms that Bible uses:
- Be filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18)
- Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the
schemes of the devil. (Eph. 6:11)
- Keep watching and praying. (Matthew 26:41)
- …Loose yourself from the chains around your neck (Isaiah 52:2)
- …But resist devil, firm in your faith. (1. Peter 5:9)
Bible teaches us to act in quite many matters in "do it yourself" -way. Jesus doesn't do all the things for you. Yet He is with you, in all these situations. For example, when Jesus was praying with his disciples at Gethsemane, he found them asleep. Jesus didn't say "Sleep well, I'll be awake for you." No! He said: "Keep watching and praying, that you may not enter into temptation" (Mathew 26:41)
How sweet it is to live in the contact with the supernatural power of God. This supernatural power of the anointingis available for each of us. However, God doesn't anoint us that we would just enjoy ourselves the heavenly perfume. God anoints those who want to do work with Him. Now, make a strong decision to give yourself into a deep prayer to make yourself ready to receive the anointing. Receiving the anointing is not so much depended on God than depended on us. How willing we are. It is not a question of buying anything from God, but making ourselves ready. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is the most valuable thing I know. You can't buy it with gold or silver.
